A Tribute to DORIS DAY

765-28-2017 - Doris Day Flier

KarenOberlin1 2000x1330

This very special event will celebrate the iconic

star. The song list will include beloved favorites

such as "Que Sera, Sera", "Sentimental

Journey," the title song, "Secret Love," and also

includes many rare, poignant songs that show

the many sides of this intriguing icon. In Secret

Love, Karen Oberlin delves deeply into the life

and music of this intriguing and important

cultural phenomenon -- from having a baby as

a teenager, touring with big bands, recording

sensational songs, surviving tumultuous

marriages and becoming the highest paid

woman in Hollywood history.

The New York Times called Karen Oberlin's hit

tribute to the great Doris Day "widely admired"

and called her "a jazzier inheritor of Doris Day's

impeccable pop style." Oberlin, the recipient of

the 2011 New York Nightlife Award for Jazz

Vocalist of the Year, has often been compared

to Ms. Day in her work as a vocalist, and she

couldn't be happier. "Doris Day is one of our

greatest artists, and although she is truly

American, like apple pie and jazz, she reaches

the hearts and minds of people all over the

world," says Oberlin.

Karen Oberlin has been hailed by the New York

Times as one of the premier interpreters of the

Great American Songbook and has headlined

at The Oak Room at the Algonquin, Feisntein's

at the Regency, the Café Carlyle, Jazz at

Lincoln Center, Iridium Jazz Club, Merkin Hall,

The Town Hall, among many others, and has

toured worldwide. She has been the recipient

of numerous awards including 2013's most

prestigious cabaret award, the Mabel Mercer

Foundation's Donald F. Smith Award and an

Honorary Doctorate in Music for her

performance work. She is a recording artist

with four CD's, including "Secret Love:

The Music of Doris Day.”

“Ms. Oberlin’s beautifully shaped reading in the

classic pop tradition was one that Ms. Day in

her prime might well have envied.”

- Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES

“I’m so enjoying your CD! You have a beautiful

sound and tone so I am very flattered that you

have enjoyed my work. You brought me

to tears.”- DORIS DAY

Do not miss this incredible show.
